Highlights from Our 7th AI Club Meeting

On November 16, our club met online and discussed a number of interesting topics. Hanke, Oliver, and Olivia gave talks on AI in entertainment, computer vision, and large language models for investing.
First, Hanke C. gave a presentation titled “AI in Entertainment — Music.” He began with an overview of the field and a brief history of AI in music, then explained how AI is used to create music and how it is involved in current music production. He went on to introduce AI in music recommendation, AI-generated musicians, and the benefits of using AI in music. Finally, he concluded with the key challenges and concerns in this area, as well as his thoughts on the future of AI in music.

Next, Oliver F. gave a presentation titled “Computer Vision: Seeing the World Through AI.” He began with an introduction to computer vision, then discussed its applications in autonomous vehicles, healthcare, retail and security, as well as environmental monitoring and agriculture. He went on to explain how computer vision works, highlighting the role of machine learning algorithms, especially deep learning neural networks. Oliver concluded his talk by exploring the future of computer vision and sharing some critical reflections on its impact and challenges.

The third presentation was given by Olivia Z., who reviewed the research paper: 'GPT-InvestAR: Enhancing stock investment strategies through annual report analysis with large language models' by Udit Gupta. She introduced the paper's main idea, key results, innovations, and the challenges remained to solve.
